This post is all about freshman tips.
College can sometimes be stressful, especially when you are an upcoming freshman.
There’s the new exciting idea of breaking free and being your own \person, but then reality hits you like a truck of being an adult and doing adult things. I know before I astarted college I scoured the internet for freshman tips.
Freshman year can be exciting but it could also be scary. I created a list of freshman tips to survive your first year. These are some things that I truly wish someone told me before I started college.
This post shows you 5 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started College
Things I Wish I Knew
Freshman Tip #1: Do Not Worried About Not Having Your Life Together.
Trust me you may feel like you have no idea what you are going to do, but there are thousands of others just like you who have no idea what to do.
You are most likely going to change your degree. So don’t stress out! I thought I was going to be a nurse, but then I realized that it was not my true calling and found the love of teaching.
Freshmen Tip #2: You May Be Alone at First!
I know being alone sounds like the scariest thing, but once you get involved in and out of your community you will meet people that may be your new friends. There was this quote I learned once in class:
“You can make more friends in two months of becoming interested in other people than in two years of trying to get other people interested in you” – Dale
Tip #3: Learn to Time Manage
This freshman tip is pretty important. It’s pretty common to hear but it is a true lifesaver to learn. Once you start juggling your classes and having work thrown out at you.
It would be great if you start looking through your syllabi and put it in your planner. This way you never forget upcoming deadlines.
Freshman Tip #4: It’s okay if you don’t pass the first few tests.
I understand college could be difficult depending on different people. Some flies through college and some is having a bit of a struggle. AND IT’S OKAY!
There are others who are just struggling as well. You can always get help from your classmates, professors, or tutors.
Freshman Tip #5: Adulting!!!!
The reality of being an adult hits you like a truck the moment you wave bye to your parents. It honestly sucks to be completely real with you. There is someone in my class who has 2 different jobs and juggling 6 classes. She admits its a bit of a struggle but she has to pay bills, gas, and other activities. Don’t let the idea of being an adult scare you.
Everyone eventually has to grow up ( unlike Peter Pan). Just take a deep breath if you decide you are not going to be working ask your parents for an allowance and learn how to budget your money. If you have to work find a job that has flexible hours so you can focus on your studies.
