This post is all about ways to Travel on a College Budget.
Being a college student is probably one of the best times to travel all around the world. You don’t have many responsibilities and basically, have all the time in the world.
One of my many goals in life is to travel everywhere on my bucket list including going to all of the Disney parks, visit all 50 states, and maybe move abroad during the summer.
I know what you think you’re like how can you do all of that on a college budget. trust me when I say I understand how it is being a broke college student.
This is why I am going to share with you my top hacks for college student’s if you are interested in traveling during your college years.
Travel on a College Budget
I’ve learned these hacks from a friend of mine and it has been an absolute money saver! It’s a bit tedious and you do have to be a bit flexible to use these hacks but I believe if you follow these steps it will save you tons of money on flights.
#1 Search all Travel Related Things in a Private Browser
It is so scary to think that somebody is actually moderating what you are doing on the computer. Hotels and airlines can see what you’re looking at and they can raise up the prices if you don’t look in incognito mode.
That is an absolute mess when you’re booking your travels especially if you are a college student and want to save money on travel you should use this hack.
#2 Check Google flights
The more flexible you are the best prices are going to show up for you
Here’s how to use the explore method:
- Type in where you plan to leave from.
- Leave the Destination blank.
- Choose flexible for the next upcoming 6 months and drag the map around and look for
- tickets in your price range.
#3 Hop over to Hopper and check when’s the best time to buy.
Hopper is a travel website you can use to look for flights. But sometimes their flights are a bit more expensive than Google flights or other travel discounts.
The reason I love this website is
If you found a particular flight that you might want to buy on Google flight it will tell you whether or not you should wait or buy it now. Plus it will tell you when the price will most likely change.
Bonus Student Universe
I haven’t personally used this travel website but I’ve heard so many good reviews about it. I have read that it has given plenty of discounts for college students and save money on flights.
I’ve learned that it’s so much cheaper if you find hotel alternatives, especially, overseas. Here are my few favorite hotel alternatives that will save you money!
I am in love with Airbnb! It’s a safe trusted site that millions of people use every day. Airbnb is a vacation rentals website that you could honestly crash at someone’s house for like 20 bucks or rent a full home to yourself for a week for half the price of a hotel.
I have never experienced living in a hostel myself but I have heard some exciting stories of those experience. I am so excited to one day experience this.
If you just look up the destination you would like to go to and just add hostel I’m sure one would appear. If you have ever stayed in one please leave your experience below in the comments I would love to hear from you.
Please contact me if you have any questions or any interesting travel stories I would love to hear from you either way!
