- Write 3 to 5 blog post
- Launch your blog
Why Should You Start a Blog?
Are you thinking about starting your blog, but feel like it’s difficult? Trust and believe it’s 100% durable and it only takes 6 simple steps. There are so many reasons why you should consider starting a blog.
I started a blog after reading an article about a blogger making thousands of dollars a month from blogging. At first, I was like this is absolute BS there is no way blogging can make money and boy was I wrong.
After doing more and more research, I’ve felt inspired to take the plunge. I wanted to make money to help pay off my college tuition and be able to network with people around the world.
While I have not started making money yet, I am fully determined to make at least $1000 by the end of 2019. To help you achieve your goal’s as well as mine. I’ve created step-by-step instructions on how to start your blog along with my easy to follow 6-step tutorial below!
How to Set Up Your Blog
Step 1: What Do You Want to Blog About?
What is your niche?
This is where you ask yourself the following questions:
- What are your strengths, skills, and interests?
- What do you enjoy talking about with to your friend?
- What is something you could write about and not get bored with the topic?
Topic Ideas
Once you answered those questions begin listing different topics for you to blog about that you find interesting:
- College
- Travel
- Health and Wellness
- Personal Finance
- Fashion
- DIY Projects
There are numerous topic ideas for you to choose from. Always remember to write something that interests you.
If you write about something you could care less about your readers are most likely not going to care either. Once you figure out your blog topic move on to step 2.
Step 2: Pick a Host.
One thing I highly recommend before moving on is to download WordPress. I use self-hosting with WordPress, it’s used by well-known bloggers and beginners. Click Here for Self Hosting.
After downloading WordPress, you need a host for your website to live basically. I personally only use Bluehost and a lot of bloggers today use it. It’s reasonably priced, and they have been so patient with me answering all my questions on how to start a successful blog.
Click on the “get started now” button
Starting you only need the $3.95 all honesty especially starting, but the $5.95 option does provide more benefits.
Step 3: Choose and Register Your Domain Name.
The first step was helping find your niche and now you got to think of a domain name. My tip is not to over think your name. The easiest domain you could do is www.yourname.com.
Try to use some words that could relate to your niche. I came up with the domain laying down doing homework wishing life would be simply less complicated, and that’s how simply-allison.com came to be.
After choosing your domain youc have to make sure it’s available and register it.
Add in your account information.
Now I recommend going for the 12 months or 24-month plan for starting. You also don’t need any extras especially just starting your blog.
Create a Password.
Next, choose a secure password for your account and confirm it.
Step 4: Designing Your Website.
Now for the fun part DESIGNING. You don’t have to have any experience with graphic design to be able to design.
Bluehost automatically installs WordPress for you, so all you have to do is pick a free theme and start designing.
I did not choose anything from WordPress and decided to choose Amelia theme from 17th Avenue Design. I’ll to admit that it’s a bit pricy for a theme, but I thought it was professional and feminine.
Step 5: Write Blog Posts
Before launching your blog I recommend having about 3 to 5 blog posts written. This way the reader has more than one content to read.
Step 6: Ready to Launch
Congratulations! You have completed this tutorial and your blog
Now you can now start your blogging journey. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me or leave a comment below. If this helped you out please leave your website I would love to see it!
